Here at Sueño Verde, we strongly believe in a healthy balance between work, rest and play. So, whilst there will be plenty of opportunity for downtime, relaxing, and getting to know the local area, it is important that prospective volunteers are also aware that, it can sometimes be hard work, when it is work time. However, we usually find that with our happy and relaxed working environment, even when working here is hard work, it can also be fun and rewarding too.

We are always looking for volunteers to come and get involved at Sueño Verde, whether that be to help with the final stages of our cabaña, our permaculture garden, general maintenance, other construction projects, or anything else that might be happening at the time. Volunteers are usually invited to stay from anywhere between one week and one month*.

People who contribute and commit to the project (for whatever the agreed length of time) will be provided with food and accommodation. Most meals are communal, both in preparing and eating, food that is provided will usually be either vegan or vegetarian. However, people are free to cook and eat whatever food they like. If you have special dietry requirements please let us know in advance as we can often accomodate them. 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A VOLUNTEER

It is important that our volunteers are enthusiastic and motivated about the Sueño Verde project and share our interest in sustainable living. Whilst off-grid experience is not essential, volunteers  are expected to have some kind of idea of what an off-grid lifestyle involves. Volunteers must be able to follow instructions, but also be capable of working independently, using their own initiative and self-motivation.

Desirable skills include:

Carpentry, Spanish speaker, physically fit and strong, experience with making raw food and/or vegetarian & vegan/wheat free food. Good knowledge, or experience with. solar power systems or other renewable energy, natural building, organic gardening, power tools, photography
